Tumblr and its population of lying, triggering shitbags can go to hell.

So we have now reached the point where:

It's nearly the end of the month.

I've tried to get somewhere with this month's fairytale FROM FOUR DIFFERENT STARTING POINTS and still can't wrangle it into anything usable that is actually taking me anywhere or transformable into any actual plot.

I can't even see any way to cut it down to a couple of short moments like I had to resort to with The Ugly Duckling.

So basically, what this comes to is:

FUCK The Red Shoes. It is a terrible tale and it can go die in a fucking fire and I am not fucking writing it.

And I don't even have time to figure out another substitute one at this point, so fuck it. No fairytale this month, I'm gonna skip straight to planning The Nightingale for next month instead. I at least have a basic skeleton for that.

Ugh, this is the one I'm least happy with so far, but I like... bits of it. And I can't fix it in two hours, so here we go. Also, it may or may not go up on AO3 with this title, depending on how I feel about it over the next couple of days...

Title: Freaks Of A Feather
Ships: I'll come back and fill this in when it's not spoilery for a certain person. It's another attempt at ashenfic, though.
Summary: All three of them are alone, in their own ways.
Notes: Yeah, the Ugly Duckling turned out to be horrible to use, especially with the prompt being "pink". Really not enough stuff that I would want to use in fic is pink... If I'd still had enough time once I worked out what I was doing, I would have added more Fef-POV, but, well.

Okay, AO3 reposting's done. And I feel really really sorry for people who regularly write Nepeta-logs...

I should gather up all the links and make a master ficpost at some point, but I can't guarantee that will always be up-to-date.


Also, The Ugly Duckling is a really frustrating source for fic plot. Just saying.


Also also, I'm pretty sure there's something wrong when I have three different fusions in my sponge for the same pair of verses... maybe I shouldn't be so much writing as running a plotbunny farm.

(And it looks like Gamzee's text might be hard to read on this background. Dammit. I'll toss up a link to AO3 once it's up there, it won't have the same problem.)

Getting down to some serious editing on the Frog Maid, since I've got a week and a bit to finish and a busy weekend coming up (with any luck) at the end of March. (And as usual, that's not what it will actually be called.)

Attempting to go to bed earlier.

Going through my music.

Reading TvTropes (it's not even a Wiki Walk that's been taking up all my time with it tonight, the RvB WMG page is just really really long and I hate closing tabs without finishing the page I'm on in them).

Contemplating horrible disturbing Freelancerstuck AUs with Karkat as Alpha.

Seriously thinking about trying to write something based on how I thought Wash's and Carolina's backstories would go when we first heard about them. (Not sure in what context yet though - originally I was thinking about origfic, but it just occurred to me that the deal with Carolina's AI-problems would fit REALLY well for a certain person in the aforementioned AU. Being vague because I really don't feel like cutting this, but to someone familiar with both canons, it's, well, the person you're probably thinking of. Although I guess doing both might not be beyond the bounds of possibility... I'm probably not doing NaNo this year, but, hm.)

So, as far as the rest of my fairytales go, one of the ones I've been having trouble figuring out what to do with is Snow White. Because there's not really a whole lot there for me to grab onto, besides trying to start some incestuous caliginous feud between Karkat and whoever I cast as the Wicked Queen, right?

But I just started reading a DS9 fic in which Julian tells Earth fairytales to Garak to see what he thinks the morals are, a bit of cultural exchange, you know? Trying to get a bit more into the Cardassian mindset. And they start with Snow White. And this is Garak's response to Snow moving in with the dwarves:


EG: Now, was this just for the time being, to ensure she had a safe place to stay while she planned her return to the castle, her revenge on the queen and her retaking of the kingdom?

JB: Um... I don't think so.

EG: I don't call that a very good princess. She's quite content to leave her subjects at the mercy of an evil cannibal witch just so long as she's safe?


And now I'm going "hmmmm". And thinking about rebellion AUs again. And I think I may have an idea now what to do with this when I get to it...

Of course, I still have to figure out who the prince is, but he's a pretty minor character compared to the queen and the dwarves. So.

Summary: Trollsville is plagued by all sorts of unsavoury folk. It's a good thing that the Jade Sylph is there to take care of them... and a pity that her arch-nemesis finds her a little too distractible. Non-Sgrub superhero AU.
Notes: So I've been poking at this verse for some time, and then, well. This first part's for Femslash February now, but I do want to come back and write at least one proper epic in this verse, with everyone in it (or maybe everyone but Jake). This may or may not be my last thing for FF, depending on how the JadeFef comes out, or doesn't.

Finished Reconstruction earlier tonight. Turns out that's exactly where I got up to the first time, so everything from here on in is new territory, woot. I miss Tex, though. (I know she's in later seasons, but still.)

I nearly had my Little Mermaid Version Two drafted last night (that's how much shorter it is than the big one that tries to follow too much of the original tale and therefore Karkat's choices make no sense), and then my sad ending got hijacked by an amorous Strider. Gogdammit.
