Stuff I should have been doing tonight/this morning:

Getting down to some serious editing on the Frog Maid, since I've got a week and a bit to finish and a busy weekend coming up (with any luck) at the end of March. (And as usual, that's not what it will actually be called.)

Working on my bingo line.

Attempting to go to bed earlier.

Stuff I've actually spent most of it doing:

Going through my music.

Reading TvTropes (it's not even a Wiki Walk that's been taking up all my time with it tonight, the RvB WMG page is just really really long and I hate closing tabs without finishing the page I'm on in them).

Contemplating horrible disturbing Freelancerstuck AUs with Karkat as Alpha.

Seriously thinking about trying to write something based on how I thought Wash's and Carolina's backstories would go when we first heard about them. (Not sure in what context yet though - originally I was thinking about origfic, but it just occurred to me that the deal with Carolina's AI-problems would fit REALLY well for a certain person in the aforementioned AU. Being vague because I really don't feel like cutting this, but to someone familiar with both canons, it's, well, the person you're probably thinking of. Although I guess doing both might not be beyond the bounds of possibility... I'm probably not doing NaNo this year, but, hm.)

Typing this.

So, as far as the rest of my fairytales go, one of the ones I've been having trouble figuring out what to do with is Snow White. Because there's not really a whole lot there for me to grab onto, besides trying to start some incestuous caliginous feud between Karkat and whoever I cast as the Wicked Queen, right?

But I just started reading a DS9 fic in which Julian tells Earth fairytales to Garak to see what he thinks the morals are, a bit of cultural exchange, you know? Trying to get a bit more into the Cardassian mindset. And they start with Snow White. And this is Garak's response to Snow moving in with the dwarves:

EG: Now, was this just for the time being, to ensure she had a safe place to stay while she planned her return to the castle, her revenge on the queen and her retaking of the kingdom?

JB: Um... I don't think so.

EG: I don't call that a very good princess. She's quite content to leave her subjects at the mercy of an evil cannibal witch just so long as she's safe?

And now I'm going "hmmmm". And thinking about rebellion AUs again. And I think I may have an idea now what to do with this when I get to it...

Of course, I still have to figure out who the prince is, but he's a pretty minor character compared to the queen and the dwarves. So.

DS9 fic in question is this one, btw, if you're interested.

Just (as in a couple of hours ago) finished the horrible, awful, messy Rumpelstiltskin draft in which Expandthings are cut in order to not spoil the wandering Syn )

On the up side, I've got a couple more plot summaries done for the extras, and I finally know what I'm doing with The Frog Prince, but it's all the way away in March and I have to write it around last-minute con preparations. ARGH.

Looking forward to doing The Fisherman And His Soul, though. A LOT. :-)

Also, I'm now torn over whether to do a second round of fairytales next year or mythology instead - one actual Earth myth for each member of Team Adorabloodthirsty? Since those stuck harder with me as a kid than fairytales really... bluh, I'll figure it out later. Also badly need to do more VanDiemenstuck, work out in what format I want to do the Karkat vs Slenderman one, and do some actual work on OnePiecestuck and TARDISbent, in addition to all the stuff in the previous list.

So yeah. Stuff.

So it seems to be 2013. And I didn't get the kiss done. Sorry, Eridan.

ExpandIt's getting kinda long, so under the cut it goes )

Happy New Year!

Watching the Classic Comedy Countdown on UKTV... coming in at 13, Allo Allo, which, while there've been a couple of others I was happy to see, was the first on the list to be greeted with a resounding FUCK YES.

(AND OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG NUMBER 11 JUST STARTED AND IS RED DWARF, AND YES IT SHOULD BE HIGHER BUT I WAS SCARED IT WOULDN'T BE ON THE LIST AT ALL SO THIS IS AWESOME FUCK YES! And also it is the first episode and Lister is obstructing a superior technician by humming, clicking and being quiet, and also there is going to be "Everybody's dead, Dave" later on, woot! /end parenthetical flailing)

(And I should probably cut the rest of this since I should actually be marking Homestuck spoilers for a while.)

ExpandSpoilers for HS Acts Five and Six under the cut )

Also damn you UKTV for advertising your Whoniversary stuff with DOOMSDAY as the backing music. DAMN YOU.

Also also, I might have stopped during the above a few times to blog The End. Resulting fragments:

Dammit I miss original!Kochanski.

"A little nibble here and a little nibble there and before you know it, we're flying backwards". Now I'm having a Fridge Horror moment about what really happened to Holly. How long did it take for the cats to evolve to the point where they understood that nibbling on wires was a terrible terrible idea and they shouldn't do it...?

Whoa what? I don't remember the Cat's entrance having that music...

AKJLEKJKLJDE Holly's "Yes, God?" at the end, I don't think I ever noticed that before, how did I not notice that?

And bleh, Countdown is over for the night. First half of the Top Ten tomorrow night...
