Finished Reconstruction earlier tonight. Turns out that's exactly where I got up to the first time, so everything from here on in is new territory, woot. I miss Tex, though. (I know she's in later seasons, but still.)

Sticking a few thoughts under a cut:

So anyway, I remember that the revelation of the Director's name threw me for a loop the first time, and it still kind of upsets me - thinking about the way he treated the Alpha feels way worse when it's based on his own thought patterns... torturing someone you know that intimately? *shudder* (And ohhhhhh fuck, I just realised why they could only get one - the humans rarely survive the copying process, don't they, that's why the AIs lose stability so quickly, because they're aware of that? Even the nonlethal procedure the Director must have used is very tricky and experimental, IIRC, and no way would they have been allowed to risk enough lives to make all the AIs they wanted for the project.)

Also, I'm sticking by my original feeling that Tex is the Beta, and that she's based on the loved one he talks about at the end, or at least of the imagined "Allison" construct in his mind (I'm kind of thinking Dirk-fragments here, only less so). (South Carolina is probably foreshadowing for this, being an attempt to place two AIs in one agent, although why they'd want to put Omega and Beta together, of all pairs, I don't... unless he was supposed to be extra protection for her? Argh. I guess I'll see later on. Don't tell me. It would make sense of why he's so attached to her as a host, though.) And, oh yeah, it occurred to me partway through that I don't remember Tex's surname being mentioned anywhere (unless I missed it). I will laugh so hard if her name is Allison O'Malley and Omega basically just stole half of it when he left. (I mean, yeah, it's plausible that Caboose just can't comprehend "Omega" as a name, but I like my version, dammit. And damn my brain, it just also occurred to me that OMega + ALLIson = ? DX) Also one of those AIs in the Meta has black armour, I notice...

Her calling Church "Leonard" that one time is something I don't remember noticing the first time, either.

The other thing that's bugging me, though, is that Church and Tex really, REALLY seem to behave more like ghosts than AIs. They don't need radio contact in order to jump hosts and they can maintain a visible presence capable of communication without having any host at all, neither of which looks like AI behaviour given that Delta was expecting to die with York, and maintaining radio silence usually slows Omega down.

Also also, if Gary is the Alpha's deceit and was therefore presumably lying out his cooling system the whole time, IS there even a Great Destroyer?

Also also also, I can't decide if Simmons is the worst auspistice ever or if he's actually not bad. Further observation of the Red Team is required.

Oh wait, there was one other thing I wanted to talk about and that is the emp. Because it actually makes sense to me that in a few hundred years, that might become how it's said? I mean, acronyms that are pronounceable generally end up being pronounced rather than spelled out anyway... Wash is maybe being a bit old-fashioned in his terminology by insisting on EMP? Especially since even the computer says emp... Need to further consider this.

So, I guess it's time to track down Relocated tomorrow.
